Walking at home with the C-Leg
It's Marijo writing tonight,
A weekend to give thanks for so much. As you can see, Bryan is walking around the house now, with assistance. Once we got going in the walker, we both didn't want to go back to the chair. The leg that Bryan has on is a lender. It is called a C-leg and as you can see in the video, Bryan can bend his knee much better in this leg, improving his gait significantly. This video was the first time he walked in the walker with the C-leg, so watch for future videos as he improves.
When I watch these video's I can't help but think back to the days when we all stood helpless as he lost limb after limb and was fighting for his life and I am overcome with thanks that he is alive this Thanksgiving and walking vertical beside me. It is truly amazing.
Our weekend started with an intimate celebratory dinner at Earl & Angelo's with Ron and Marg Gray, Bill and Linda Dudgeon, Jim and Brenda Rose and Bryan and I. I think Bryan summed it up the best in a toast - simply - "to life". It was this group of people that, for me personally, while Bryan was sedated for 3 weeks, stood beside me and held me up during some incredibly difficult times and have continued to help Bryan and I adjust to our new life. I am so thankful to call them my friends, my brothers, my sisters.
Tonight we ended our long weekend with an afternoon Thanksgiving dinner at Bryan's sister's house with his family. Brenda is an incredible host and cook. We all starve ourselves for 24 hours before an event at her house because there is always so much great food to eat.

HI BRYAN: YOUR PROGRESS IS AWESOME...YOU ARE REALLY INSPIRATIONAL. WISHING YOU BOTH THE BEST OF LUCK IN YOUR NEW HOME .... JEAN & GARNET P.S. KEEP UP THE HARD WORK, IT IS SUR PAYING OFF!!!
ReplyDeleteI had gone online to search for Marijo to brag about how a photo of mine is to appear in the next issue of National Geographic. I am thrilled to be walking better after breaking an ankle last August trying to photograph a monarch butterfly (true story). But I had NO idea that my search would take me here - where I realize my accomplishments are so trivial. God bless you Bryan, as he already has blessed you with Marijo.
