Part Two - Royal Wood wished me a Happy Birthday

The video from a few days ago that we shared with you was a song that Marijo played to me in the evenings when I was completely sedated in ICU. It was of great meaning to her and then to us as she played it to me when I awoke. I actually remember hearing it when I was sedated, which is cool. Anyway, the friend that introduced Marijo the the song, emailed Royal Wood, who is the singer/songwriter of this song. We have pasted her email below. And after her email, we have pasted Royal Wood's response to me for my birthday. When Marijo read the emails to me, we both were deeply touched so we wanted to share this special moment with the rest of you.

Peggy's email:

Dear Mr. Wood:
Recently, the partner of my best friend contracted necretizing faciitis or, as it is more commonly known, flesh-eating disease.  He was given a 10% chance of survival.  He beat the odds and, despite losing most of his limbs, he is now on the road to recovery.  His name is Bryan Cuerrier and he is a patient at St. Mary's of the Lake Hospital in Kingston, Ontario.
When Bryan was at the very early stage of the disease, I sent them your song "I'm So Glad".  This very beautiful song was instrumental in carrying them both through some very dark and difficult times.
Bryan will be celebrating his 52nd birthday on Friday, July 23rd.  I realize that you are a very busy man, but would it be at all possible that you could wish him a happy birthday?  I know it would mean the world to him as he embarks on his long and difficult journey to recovery.
Thank you very much for considering my request, Mr. Wood.  You are an exquisite musician and you will always hold a very special place in our lives for the role that your music played in saving Bryan's life.
Peggy

Royal Wood's response:
Hey Bryan,
A little bird told me your birthday was coming up this Friday.
I thought I would send you both a warm and heartfelt wish for a memorable birthday, but also nothing but healing wishes and thoughts to you in your battle.
All the best to you in your life from here on out.
Royal

  1. Always wanted to have a celebrity in the family. Being On a first name basis with Royal is pretty special, but then again you are a celebrity to the many people who read your blog. Have a great day on the 23rd. See you soon,
    Mary and Maurice
