Holding Pattern - Steady as she goes...

Hey everybody. We haven't written in a while but we are in a bit of a holding pattern here. My left hip is still draining and it needs to be dry before I go to St. Mary's. The good news is that the fluid is not showing and signs of infection, it is just generally taking a long time to heal up. Maybe in about a weeks time I will get over there.
Marijo had a surprise for me this morning as we wheeled our way to the Holiday Inn which was a 30 minute wheelchair ride. We had a wonderful breakfast on the patio there, overlooking the marina. It was so nice to order from a menu, but unfortunately still had to be fed some of my food.
Still enjoying visits from everyone. So nice to see friendly faces from friends and co-workers.
From a physical point of view the physio department, alongside Marijo, are working at increasing my hand strength and flexibility. To give you an example, I am just now able to pick up a spoon without it slipping from my grasp, however, my fingertips are still extremely sensitive, which complicates matters. My muscle mass is starting to return to my arms and leg because of physio. I arm wrestled Marijo today, but I lost - and she is left handed! But I will get her next time.
Getting in the wheelchair 2-3 hours each day, but my butt gets sore after an hour. We go down to the water most evenings to watch the boats go by.
That's all for now. Keep in touch.
Bryan

  5. Hi Bryan - Wow Breakfast at the Holiday Inn. Nice! Hope your hip heals fast so you can get to St Marys. There are a lot of parks around there as well. Isn't fresh air wonderful? As for the sore butt problem - you could try what the motorcycle guys use - sheep skin. Just a thought. Keep up the great work at physio.
