I got lei-ed (Hawaiian style) @ St Mary's

Well the day has finally come where St Mary's has released me to the real world. It all seemed so normal until we didn't have to venture down the highway this morning to return for rehab. I already miss my good friends Tony and Cheryl who allowed me to share time with them in the hospital.
To my amazing hospital staff in rehab Lynn and Deanna (and all the great nurses) I promise to keep up my physio. I now have a personal trainer who will come to my house each week to strengthen my core (hate the core work).  I bought a couple of dumbbell weights ( I call them Lynn & Deanna) and have started walking each day for 30 minutes or so with Marijo. I find my walking has plateaued a little and I am anxious to get to another level. You will see in the attached video where I take 5 unaided steps...it's a lot like Herman Munster with a bit of liquor in him. I'm excited that my outpatient physio for walking starts tomorrow at the Belleville hospital.
I was pleasantly surprised on my discharge day at St. Mary's as the staff anointed me with a graduation hat and I got lei-ed (Hawaiian style) several times I might add....see the video. We also shared some baked goods - all so yummy - and then a lunch with my dear friends before an emotional good bye.
Plans at home are to widen our kitchen access....no it's not because Marijo is putting on a few pounds (I will get hit for saying that). If we get a new fridge and stove we can accomplish that, as my old ones from my other home stick out to far. We will also redesign our main level bathroom to create a drive in shower for myself. Currently I need help to shower, as our ensuite shower is very tiny and thus not accessible for my self needs.
So to all I want to say thank you so much for reading our blog. We will still continue to update from time to time as events unfold. They just might be spaced further apart now that I am at home.
It's been amazing for me to be able to keep in touch with my blog and I owe it all to Marijo who is behind all of it. I love you all and now it's off to walking - one of my top priority passions.

  1. Laura and I wanted to just say congratulations on graduating from St Marys on the Lake. We know how much work that takes. Enjoy your new home. As you seem to have grasped, every minute of therapy pays off. All our best to you and Marijo. Keith & Laura

  3. Way to go Bryan. Now you will be able to enjoy Les Canadiens on your big screen in the comfort of you own home. How about that P.K. eh? By the way, in Quebec a Lay is a Lay and not a bunch of flowers around your neck. All the best to you and Marijo.
    Love from Mary and Maurice
